SB 150 which provides for bariatric surgery benefits for members of the Office of Group Benefits authored by Sen. Regina Barrow, Sen. Gerald Boudreaux, and Rep. Larry Bagley which has already passed the full Senate with a unanimous vote of 36 yeas – 0 nays and picked up 20 co authors in the Senate was heard in the House Health Committee on 5/18. The committee passed SB 150 without objections. SB 150 will likely head to the House Appropriations Committee soon. Louisiana State Employees are one step closer to having access to the only proven treatment for severe obesity.
